Your Wedding Photographer, Styles and Inspiration

Jon Henney wedding photographer in Cornwall

So who am I?

Well I live in beautiful Cornwall and what better county could there be to get married in? I’ve been taking photographs for over ten years and in 2018 was awarded winning status in a BBC competition. I’m married to Caroline and we have a completely bonkers 6 year old Cockapoo called Harry. Don’t worry, he won’t be with me on your big day (unless you want him of course)! We live around 5 miles from the coast and in a fairly central location which makes it great for visiting clients and driving to wedding venues around Cornwall from Penzance to Saltash.

Wedding Photography Styles:

There are three main wedding photography styles, these are Reportage, Traditional and Contemporary. There is no right or wrong style it just depends on the look and how you want to capture your wedding. Some couples like to record the day as it unfolds in a kind of documentary style, this is Reportage. Others prefer to have more formal photographs which rely on formal posing especially useful for large groups and this fits in with a more Traditional style and then you have Contemporary Wedding photography capturing your big day in a Photojournalistic style in a candid and informal way.

How I Work

I offer an unobtrusive wedding photography service blending into the background to capture those magic moments. I’m extremely approachable and friendly which my clients can testify to and I like to think that I have a cool sense of humour, which I have used during unforseen stressful situations to help clients feel more relaxed and make the photography more fun and interesting. My approach is not to “bark” at guests but rather to coerce people into taking part and of course to capture them having a great time with lots of smiles.

I like to take the time to find out more about my clients, which is crucial for that background story and actually can give ideas as to various styles, looks and poses. Naturally I am professional at all times and I pride myself on giving excellent service for that once in a lifetime event.

Being a wedding photographer is a responsible role, it’s also a privilege and honour to be involved in any wedding. I like to think I’m down to earth, definitely honest and don’t believe in ripping couples off with expensive prints and wedding albums.  My services are about offering great value and an exceptional service helping put my clients minds at rest, so you can relax and concentrate on your “Big Day”.

Here To Help

Although the majority of my clients will have already chosen their ideal venue, some couples have great difficulty in deciding where to host their wedding. In Cornwall we are very lucky to live in such a romantic, varied and beautiful part of the country and this is reflected in the large number of venues available. If you’re still undecided about the perfect wedding venue, I’ve added a link via wedmagazine which takes you to a list of some of Cornwall’s most amazing places to host your wedding.
